“It’s a Trap!”
It’s the 12th day of Lefall at 5:15 in the evening. When we last left our adventurers (I won’t say heroes because frankly the jury is still out on that), Kaiden got caught in a trap that Urik and his Hotex clan of kobolds conveniently forgot to mention. Ever the stoic, Kaiden stands up and dusts himself off in a feat of impressive strength. Wordlessly he presses on down the hallway.
Ea chastises Urik for playing games with our safety and wellbeing. She offers both carrots and sticks for the kobolds to honor their original agreement of safe passage for the party. One by one we go. Crispin passes without incident. Urik isn’t done playing games, however, and charms Ea as she passes by. Kellin, just waiting for any excuse to stab something, hears the silver-tongued kobold from the other room and dashes down the stairs to engage.
Ryu plays the role of a giant toad, taking bites of several kobolds and digesting one whole; Crispin is nauseated by the whole thing. Meanwhile, a confused Ea manages to use crazy-lady’s crown of fun/madness and charm one of the kobold guards into doing her dirty work. Kaiden, after a brief bit of door holding to gather his nerves, goes into full on rampage mode and kills everyone (who isn’t already being digested or driven to madness).
The party spares the kobold workers once the guards and sorcerer have been dealt with. They take a moment to regroup and search the area for anything useful. Ea, who was attacked in the nethers by some swarm of bugs, is probably fine and receives a stylish new hat. Kellin recovers using a found healing salve. Ryu picks up some pocket change. Crispin acquires a scroll of invisibility and then names the ‘smartest looking kobold’, Werx, the new leader of the Hotex clan.
Intending to leave the kobold business behind them, Crispin scouts ahead to the next room of the dungeon where he finds Cyanwrath. The room is unnervingly humid and warm and looks like a place where someone into dark rituals might hang out. Also, there are unidentified tentacles. Crispin gives the dragonborn a taste of the old flute and taunts him in Kellin’s voice before making a hasty retreat.
The party waits in the room with the kobolds to see if Cyanwrath will give chase, but he doesn’t. The cultists invite the kobolds to join them in attacking the party, but Crispin is more persuasive and the Hotex clan is convinced to leave without further violence.
What will happen next week in the adventures of the #rowdyBoys (and one lady who might also actually be a boy no one’s sure).
