The party of heroes commence, after taking a heroic short rest from heroing… with much heroism.
Upon finishing their rest the party divides the wealth of the previous encounter. Notably Crispin keeps a watchful eye on the “loose wealth”, Kaiden takes the demonic wine skin, and Ea grows her library with a ledger, a diary, and a book of Bane.
After resting and plundering the party heads to the Fungi Garden. There the party discovers multiple narrow paths through the dank garden. Most are filled with danger and many are home to an auditory focused creature known as a Violet Fungus. Keen on progressing through the garden with haste the party finds a path of least resistance just as a seemingly innocuous fume starts to show a more sinister nature. The minds of the adventurers begin to be accosted by a havoc of the mind as they find their escape from the Fungi Garden. Most of the group leave fatigued but intact nonetheless. However, Crispin is not as lucky.
The party takes a moment to breathe freely in a opening on the far side of the Fungi Garden. Once there Crispin begins to become fatigued and sweaty with panicked eyes beginning to dance around the room. Shortly Crispin looses his senses as the acid hits and experiences a new perspective to his life (if not simply a more crazed perspective). With Ea looking on in jealousy Kellin, quick to recognize the trouble the young bard has dropped into, lays a restorative hand (or two) upon the sweating half elf. In short order Crispin is released from the hold delusions. With all members present and functioning the party begins to explore the new room.
The room is a crossroads with four open paths. Behind the party is the Fungi Garden, before them a large opening to a larger room filled with heaps of trash, to their right narrow stairs descending into a crude meat locker, and to their left a torch lit pathway adorned with a mural depicting a scene from the story of Garl Glittergold. With extra care near the entrance back into the Fungi Garden to distract several Violet Mushrooms with a trickery of noise Crispin explores the crossroads for any hidden rooms or passages. For the effort the half elf’s restored senses determine that the room is true and as the party sees it. With this knowledge the party splits into smaller groups to quickly do light reconnaissance of the three unknown paths.
To the right Crispin and Kaiden discover the meat locker, to the center Ea discovers and befriends trash people amongst the heaps of trash (Heapsters if you will) by sharing valuable volumes from her personal library, Ryu investigates to the left where he examines the mural along with a large circle of boulders, and Kellin stays in the middle to commune with his divine source. Kellin discovers the area to be void of meaning, Ryu stashes a boulder from the circle, Ea receives a grunt of gratitude for her offering, and Crispin and Kaiden discover that the meat locker holds no secrets. With this information the party moves together down the left path.
Beneath the mural Kellin gathers the party to share the fable of The Kobold God. Kurtulmak tirelessly drives kobolds to make war upon gnomes, in retaliation for a prank the gnomish deity Garl Glittergold pulled on him. Kurtulmak is known to have neither compassion nor a sense of humour
As the party moves forward Ea walks into the circle of boulders and trips a trap. Ea gracefully catches herself on the edge of the pit, and is quickly hoisted from the clutches of the trap by her companions. Moving further in the party discovers the path opens into an elongated cavern. In the room the party sees a wood stair case enclosed by an iron cage that leads into the lower section of this cavern. Along the west wall, oil lanterns hang and a narrow passageway can be seen that leads down.
The party discovers that the caged gateway stands before a doorway into the Dragon Cult’s brutal training ground for their guard drakes. Kellin and Kaiden stand watch as Ryu, Ea, and Crispin cautiously enter the place of corruption. There they learn that the Dragon Cult takes their captives and corrupts them through some ritual into the monstrous creatures. While in the dungeon of corruption the three liberate a key, a grapple pole, and a collar. Upon rejoining Kellin and Kaiden the two inform the group that they have heard some activity near the stairs at the far side of this room. So the party ventures forward as one. At the mouth of the stairs the party pauses while Kellin and Crispin investigate what lies below.
The stairs descend to form a T intersection with a hallway at the bottom. They report back that a hallway begins to the left and to the right there is a common space filled with many kobolds. By their quick glance they see an arcane kobold and a tinkering kobold along with 4 armed kobolds and a dozen unarmed kobolds. The party makes their presence known to the kobolds when they learn that their presence is not a mystery. Ea opens dialog with Eurik the Great Kobold Sorcerer who after negotiating agrees to allow the party to pass unhindered for payment of trinkets from Ea, but only “one by one.” The party agrees and proceed forward with Kaiden in the lead. As Kaiden moves to the hallway a rumbling begins and the walls give way onto Kaiden. As Kaiden is knocked off his feet he looks up to see two of the armed kobolds advancing towards him. Kaiden cannot help but smile to himself.
